College Council

The College is owned and operated by the St Columba College Council Munno Para Inc. in conjunction with the Anglican and Catholic Archbishops of Adelaide.

The St Columba College Council plays a key role in providing oversight and management support, policy creation and enforcement, the appointment of college leadership and administrative oversight, in support of the College Leadership team and advancing the school’s educational vision.

 

Membership of Council

The College Council consists of 4 Anglican appointees, 4 Catholic appointees, 4 persons elected from the official membership of the College and the College Principal (ex officio).

Mr Phil Proctor 

College Council Chairperson 

Mr Phil Proctor has worked in the IT industry for more than 40 years across industries including Wagering and Gaming, Medical, Not for Profits, Public Sector and Education. Mr Proctor commenced his IT career in the wagering industry by developing and managing the transaction engine for South Australian Totalizator Agency Board.  Mr Proctor started an independent IT Consulting business in 1995 providing strategic and project advisory to many industry verticals.

Working with the South Australia Lotteries Commission in 2008, he had oversight of the replacement on the Online Lottery System from end point device, communications links and central systems.  In 2010 Proctor worked with SA Water on key strategic IT systems before joining Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) in 2016. 

As Assistant Director ICT (Chief Information Officer) he provides the strategic and operational leadership of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) section, servicing over 50,000 students across 101 schools, and over 9,000 staff.

The Venerable Jo Smith 

College Council Vice-Chairperson 

Archdeacon Smith is an Anglican priest currently serving the Diocese of Adelaide as the Archdeacon of the Para, member of Diocesan Council and parish priest of Modbury and Golden Grove.

Prior to her ordination, Archdeacon Smith was a curriculum leader in Anglican, Lutheran and Catholic schools, and she remains committed to the provision of outstanding educational opportunities in Christian schools.

Archdeacon Smith has a deep love and knowledge of the northern suburbs, having lived and worked here for twenty years prior to her appointment to Modbury and Golden Grove. She served at Holy Cross Elizabeth and as Chaplain to St Columba College in her first appointment after ordination

Mr Danny Mamoto 

Chairperson of Finance Committee 

Mr Danny Mamoto is a people person with a demonstrated history of working in the people-oriented industry, delivering Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) and Department of Social Services (DSS) Disability Employment Services. Mr Mamoto is skilled in people development, sales, marketing, business development, career counselling, and human resource management. Mr Mamoto is a strong community and social services professional with a postgraduate degree in Business and Bachelor in Psychology.

Mr Mamoto’s passions are as an active supporter of community engagement and development through local church and non-profit organisations. Mr Mamoto is a parent of two sons at St Columba College.

Mr Michael Kenny 

Council Member 

Mr Michael Kenny has 45 years' experience in education as a teacher, principal, and senior executive in Catholic Education SA. His last full-time role was as the Assistant Director, People and Culture at the Catholic Education Office where his responsibilities included human resources, child protection, legal services, work health and safety and leadership appointments.

He continues to work in a part-time capacity for Catholic Education as a project officer on a governance review. Michael also conducts a consultancy focussing on matters of staff conduct, professional standards and complaint resolution. He has previously served as a deputy member of the Teacher Registration Board of SA.

Mr Kenny is an active member of the Hectorville Catholic Parish and has also volunteered for Fred's Van, a service to the homeless, for 25 years. Having retired from full-time work he enjoys bushwalking and being able to contribute to the ongoing growth and success of St Columba College.

Ms Kirsty Alm 

Council Member 

Ms Kirsty Alm has worked in the State Government within the Attorney-General's Department for 24 years. Throughout her working life, she has been given the opportunity to perform various roles within the Department, and is currently employed as a Conveyancer within the Crown Solicitor’s Office.

Ms Alm has learnt valuable skills throughout her employment, such as IT, Finance, legal research, and customer service. Ms Alm has also completed a Diploma in Legal Studies and Advance Diploma in Conveyancing.

Ms Alm has a daughter that attends St Columba College and is a registered volunteer at the school.

Mr Jamie Blowes 

Council Member 

Mr Jamie Blowes is a skilled teacher and experienced educational leader with 32 years of experience in a diverse range of educational settings. His expertise spans Early Years to Year 12 schools, Reception to Year 7 schools, day and boarding schools, country and metropolitan schools, boys and co-educational Catholic colleges and schools. Mr Blowes has a deep passion for Teacher and Leader Formation, Catholic Identity and Mission, School Improvement, Strategic Planning, Staff and Team Culture.

Currently, Mr Blowes is the Manager of School Performance Leaders at the Catholic Education Office Adelaide. In this role, he has responsibility for the Leadership and School Improvement of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Adelaide and Diocese of Port Pirie.

His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Teaching from the University of South Australia, a Masters in educational leadership from Australian Catholic University, and a Masters in Theology from The Broken Bay Institute / University of Newcastle

Mr Simon Murray OAM KGSJ FACE 

Council Member 

Mr Simon Murray served as Headmaster for 27 years across three independent Australian schools; Bunbury Cathedral Grammar (WA), Canberra Grammar (ACT) and most recently as the 14th Headmaster of St Peter’s College (SA).

In June 2018 he was awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia for services to education and professional associations. He is a Knight of Grace in the Order of Saint John where he holds the position of Vice Chancellor in the South Australian Priory.

He has served on the Board of Independent Schools Australia and as Chairman of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australian (AHISA).

He was a founding member and inaugural Chair of the Positive Education Schools Association (2014-2020) bringing wellbeing education to young people throughout Australia. He was also a founding member of the Board of the International Positive Education Network (IPEN) and in 2020 was appointed Global Chair.

Fr Santosh Pereira 

Council Member 

Fr Santosh Pereira is a Catholic Priest belonging to the Congregation of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales. Currently, Fr Santosh is the youngest Parish Priest in the Archdiocese of Adelaide, serving the Catholic Parish of Elizabeth, which has a very multicultural community and the maximum number of Catholic Schools in a parish.

Fr Santosh, being the Parish Priest, is the President of the board of all the Catholic schools in the parish. He celebrates Holy Mass in the schools, gives reflection talks as required, and leads the school communities in the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Fr Santosh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology both affiliated to DeSales University, Center Valley, PA, USA. Fr Santosh is passionate about the teachings of the Catholic Church to make the world a better place by living the values taught by Jesus Christ

Mr Shane Clay 

Council Member 

Mr. Clay is an accomplished business leader with 20 years of experience as founder and Managing Director of Caznet, a telecom and cloud services provider in Adelaide. His expertise includes technology, security, business development, engineering, sales, leadership, finance, and project management. Under his direction, Caznet has experienced remarkable growth, establishing itself as a leader in South Australia’s ICT industry, serving small to medium businesses, private education, local and state government, and publicly listed companies.

Shane’s connection to the College began in 1997 as a foundation Year 5 student. He continued through high school, graduating with the inaugural Year 12 class in 2004. Shane grew up in Adelaide's northern suburbs, remains actively involved in the local community and has maintained strong ties with the College since graduation.

Ms Belinda Scott 

Council Member 

Ms Belinda Scott has worked in various industry roles, including: Department of Defence, defence industry, and TAFESA.  She has previously had the honour of serving in the Royal Australian Air Force, before undertaking several civilian roles within the Department of Defence.  Ms Scott is currently a Project Support Officer within the Department of Defence.

Throughout her employment, Ms Scott has gained extensive skills and experience in wide-ranging areas such as: Project Management, HR Management, Finance and Office Administration Management, Customer Service, and Administrative Governance.  She has a Bachelor of Business, and a Diploma in Government Finance.

Ms Scott has four children, two who have recently graduated and two currently attending St Columba College. Ms Scott has been actively involved with St Columba College for 13 years both as a former Parent and Friends Committee Member, and parent volunteer.
