The Year of Body, Mind and Spirit has had a positive start. We’ve particularly enjoyed the focus on our bodies during Term 1, celebrating the Sports Carnival in Week 7, daily movement breaks, and healthy, wrapper-free food. We have noticed the difference in student’s ability to focus and learn when eating more fresh food and less preservatives, colours, and sugar in pre-packaged, processed food. We will continue to celebrate ‘Lunch Box of the Week’ next term, with the winning students receiving a special healthy treat from the canteen that week. Well done to our recent winners: Cohen (Rec O’Connor), Eliana (1 Braham), Mason (1 Braham), Blair (1 Dunning) and Caprice (4 Russell).
Celebrations of learning and students reaching their own personal goals is an ongoing process. Recently, Ms Monique Lagana and other classroom teachers have met with families to establish PPLs (Personalised Plans for Learning) for students requiring inclusive support. Developing these in partnership with parents/caregivers is important to support and monitor the learning environment and outcomes for children, ensuring they can achieve their best. We look forward to sharing all students’ learning progress with you next term at the Three-Way Learning Conversations in Week 2. Bookings for face-to-face interviews or phone conversations can be made via this link.
As this Easter season now moves toward Pentecost, we have been grateful for the opportunity to engage with the Easter story as a community and remember Christ’s sacrifice for us. We have reflected on how we can be there for others and what it means to serve our friends. We were able to put this into practice at the Compassion Market last week, where we enjoyed many different stalls and activities and raised $1172.65 to help support Project Compassion. In our daily interactions with each other we continue to work hard on creating a culture of kindness, compassion, and respect for each other. The Easter story reminds us that we are all human and we all make mistakes, yet God loves us unconditionally and forgives us when we make poor choices or harm others. We celebrate the hope and joy of the resurrection and new life in Christ everyday.
May your family have a relaxing holiday break and enjoy some time together. There are some holiday ideas for families to enjoy here.
We thank our staff who have worked incredibly hard during Term 1 to ensure a great start to the year for all children.
