What will I learn?
Economics is the study of how resources are allocated so that goods and services are produced, distributed, and exchanged to satisfy the unlimited needs and wants of society.
What attributes do I need?
Underlying research and numeracy skills to understand the four economics concepts of scarcity, choice, opportunity cost, and the cause and effect of economic decisions
What Learner Qualifiers suit Economics A?
- Ability to understand mathematical / economic models as a representation of society and extrapolate based on assumptions
- Analysis of data and primary and secondary sources to reason logical economic arguments
How will I be assessed?
Analytical Report (40%) – Develop an understanding of economic principles and apply them to a problem, use economic reasoning to analyse how the problem can be efficiently solved
Economic project (40%) – Locate and analyse a range of sources to apply economic principles and construct reasoned arguments
Examination (20%) – Use economic skills to apply economic models and construct reasoned arguments underpinned by economic principles
