Stage 2 Essential English
In this subject, students respond to and create texts in and for a range of personal, social, cultural, community, and/or workplace contexts. Students understand and interpret information, ideas, and perspectives in texts and consider ways in which language choices are used to create meaning.

Assessment Overview
Responding to Texts (30%)
- Report into the construction and impact on an audience of two individually chosen film trailers
- Multi modal (PowerPoint, with embedded audio) presentation into the language use of an individually chosen tourist website
Creating Texts (40%)
- A letter to a younger self
- Speech (oral presentation and transcript) advocating for action and change on a community issue
- Instructional Video (or PowerPoint Presentation)
External Study (30%)
- Language Study: A maximum of 1500 words investigating an individually chosen language use outside of the classroom
