Students apply practical skills and design principles to provide creative solutions to text-based communication tasks, using imagination and creativity to make proposals and choices. They use the design process to apply problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills. Students create both hard-copy and electronic text-based publications and document the development process. Students identify and use the computer hardware and software to process, manage and communicate information in a range of contexts including editorial publication or product design. They analyse the impacts and consequences of the use of publishing technologies.
