St Columba College is committed to providing the highest level of care and first aid assistance across all campuses. Each site has a health service area staffed by qualified and registered first aid attendants. Providing a service during school hours, it is available so that immediate attention to illness or injury is accessible to students at all times.

It is College policy that all staff of the College are required to have training and certification in occupational first aid and provide emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
 

Senior First Aid  / Health Officer
Employed at the College is a Senior First Aid  / Health Officer available to see to the medical needs of students and staff. They are responsible for the physical care of students, including treatment for an incident, accident or illness, the management of Medical Action Plans, immunisation programs, health workshops and seminars, or any other first aid assistance or emergency care required at the College. They also provide support at College activities, excursions and camps.
 

Medication Management Plan
St Columba College provides a Medication Management Policy. As part of the Policy, the College requires written authorisation from both the prescribing medical practitioner and the parent or caregiver for all prescription medication, including some over-the-counter medications, which need to be administered at school.

Your child cannot be given medication unless the College has received a Medication Agreement Form from a Doctor, permitting the student to receive the prescribed medication.

For students diagnosed with allergies or any other medical condition requiring medication for treatment, the College requires a yearly updated Medication Agreement Form signed by a Doctor.

The Medication Agreement Form is available for download on this page and should be returned to the College Administration on your child's campus. Once received, the First Aid / Health Officer will contact the parent or caregiver for confirmation.
 

Asthma Management Plan
St Columba College provides an Asthma Management Policy. As part of the Policy, the College requires written authorisation from both the prescribing medical practitioner and the parent or caregiver for all prescription medication.

For students diagnosed with Asthma and require medication for treatment, the College requires a yearly updated Asthma Management Plan signed by a Doctor.

The Asthma Management Plan is available for download on this page and should be returned to the College Administration on your child's campus. Once received, the First Aid / Health Officer will contact the parent or caregiver for confirmation.
