The College’s 2017 Dux and top achieving student for Year 12, Sonia Haydari, can add another notch to her belt. Last year’s graduating student has been recognised for her hard work in the subject of Art by being selected to participate in this year’s SACE Art Show.
This March, Sonia’s artwork ‘Under Pressure’ will be showcased amongst over 100 artworks in an exhibition at the Adelaide College of the Arts. Her symbolic piece captures the theme of identity and illustrates who she was at the time of her Year 12 studies.
“I found Year 12 very hard,” Sonia said.
“But it was the most memorable year of my life.”
Having received the College’s top ATAR score of 98.4% with an A+ in the subjects of Art and Research Project, Sonia has earned herself a placement in UniSA’s Bachelor of Architectural Studies.
“Physics, Maths and Art are my favourite subjects and I wanted to continue studying Art,” Sonia said.
“I looked for advice from my teachers who recommended studying Architecture because of my passion for these subjects.”
Sonia’s journey in the Arts has been full of discovery and self-reflection; evident in her compositions and art subjects. Her pursuit in a career of architecture will be immensely rewarding for her and an opportunity to shape and transform her work and our environment.
We wish Sonia all the best on her new journey beyond the College.
