Reconciliation Week
The theme for this year’s Reconciliation Week is ‘Let’s Take the Next Steps’.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) runs annually from 27 May - 3 June. These dates mark two milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: The 1967 referendum and the historic Mabo decision, respectively.

In 2017, we reflect on two significant anniversaries in Australia’s reconciliation journey – 50 years since the 1967 referendum and 25 years since the historic Mabo decision. As we commemorate these significant milestones, all Australians are asked to be a part of the next big steps in our nation’s reconciliation journey.

Reconciliation Prayer
Dear God,
We who have come from every land
give thanks for our country Australia.
This earth that feeds us,
The shores that bind us,
The skies that envelop our freedom,
We give our thanks and praise.
Let us look back with courage;
See the truth and speak it.
Let us look around with compassion;
See the cost and share it.
Let us look forward with hope;
See what can be and create it.

Vinnies CEO Sleepout - Article from The Southern Cross
Adelaide business and community leaders will come together again on 29 June to experience for one night what is a daily reality for more than 105,000 homeless Australians.

The Sleepout will be held at Government House and hosted by singer Kate Ceberano, who is a fan of Vinnies SA’s work.

Each night more than 6000 South Australians experience homelessness with almost 16 per cent being children under the age of 12.

Of the 101,400 South Australian’s supported in 2015/16 through Vinnies home visits and provided with food, clothing, emergency funds or other services 15,500 were women and 22,500 children.
