Last week, I had the pleasure to attend two evenings at the College that showcased our talented students and the Iona Pilgrimage.
Years 6-12 Celebration of Music Concert
Last Wednesday night, Music students from Years 6-12 performed in the annual Celebration of Music Concert in the Middle School Auditorium. Performing in front of family, friends and College staff, these students shared their outstanding talents as singers and players. We thank Mrs Roberta Beer and Ms Sharon Chng for their coordination and preparation of the students.
Iona Pilgrimage Quiz Night
Congratulations to everyone involved in planning the Quiz Night to support the 2017 Iona Pilgrimage. The lead up to the Pilgrimage and the community support for the group has been overwhelming. Mr Wayne Gladigau, Deputy Principal, was adamant this would be an R-12 focus and I think we have clearly achieved this. To see so many families and staff across the three schools attend on Friday night’s event was terrific. Our thanks also to everyone who generously donated prizes and gifts.
The last two terms have gained momentum for the Pilgrimage and we sincerely thank the following students and staff for making this possible; Caitlin Allen, Jordan Clarke, Patrick Curry, Nathan Kent, Tiffany Martin, Connor Moseley, Mikayla Murphy, Nikita Pudney, Cameron Trezona, Jane Bailey, Tom Blake, Gina Dunning, Jan Jacobson, Phillip Johnson Jnr, Oliver Harms, Matthew McGinty, Alice Pudney, Vince Ruggiero, Philip Southwell, Deirdre Walters, James Walters and Natasha Williams. We wish the pilgrims all the best when they leave for the UK on Friday, 7 July.
Master planning has begun with architects Philips and Pilkington. With four classes in each year level moving through the Junior School and Year 7 moving from Catholic primary schools in 2019, the Middle Years site has been reviewed first. Drafts are currently being worked on and this will be shared with the community in the future.
Semester 1 Reports
Reception to Year 9 teachers are currently finishing reports and these will be given to students in Week 10 of Term 2 - Friday, 7 July. In the past, marking of exams for Year 10-11 has been rushed, so to give more time to the process, Semester 1 reports for Year 10-12 classes will be given to students in Week 1 of Term 3 - Friday, 28 July.
Last Monday, I attended a session for Principals with the Vice Chancellor of UNISA to hear more about STEM. We are keen to improve our relationship with the University sector and this is one small step in this direction.
This week, I am away on Long Service Leave from Wednesday, 28 June - Tuesday, 4 July returning on Wednesday, 5 July.
I hope the rest of the term continues to go well.
