Year 12 Graduate of 2016, Lexi Mathews, has been selected to exhibit one of her Stage 2 Visual Art designs in this year’s SACE Art Show.
Nominated by her Art teacher, Mrs Kelley Lewis, Lexi’s digital artwork will be amongst a range of diverse art and design works produced by more than a hundred Year 12 Art students across the state.
Lexi’s work evokes an emotional connection with the audience. She created a set of four digital artworks capturing the same female figure in each scene. The eyes of the figure, influenced by the iconic Steve McCurry's ‘Afghan Girl’, draws the audience in and takes them on a journey.
Lexi explored four strong themes - domestic abuse, poverty, harmful protests and war/terrorism - and transformed her exploration into a captive and powerful story. We are proud she can share her artwork with both aspiring and industry artists.
Lexi is the fourth St Columba College student to be selected for this prestigious exhibition and we congratulate her on her success.
The SACE Art Show will be on display at the Light Square Gallery, Adelaide College of the Arts, from Saturday, 18 March until Wednesday, 3 May 2017.
